Working with children means being ready for anything. This HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting course gives you the skills and confidence to respond calmly and safely when an illness or injury happens.
Designed for people working in childcare, early learning, or school settings, this course meets Australian Resuscitation Council and national health guidelines. It’s ideal for educators and carers around Helensvale, Burleigh Heads, and Southport who want to keep children safe and meet their workplace requirements.

The following unit(s) will be awarded to successful participants in this course. The certificate will be issued by Allens Training Pty Ltd – RTO 90909.
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support.
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Online with an in-person face to face assessment at the location specified at the time of the booking or in the workplace in a suitable training area.

Participants must be physically able to perform practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and rescue breathing techniques on manikins.
Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work before attending the face-to-face session, depending on the course delivery mode.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Blended learning: Online Training with Face-to-Face Assessment – 2 hours (minimum) face-to-face assessment with 5 hours of online self-paced learning to complete before attending the face-to-face course.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the following sections.

It is recommended that this course be renewed every 36 months (three years).
Recommended renewal dates for included competencies are listed separately on the certificate. For example, CPR is 12 months.

Delivery of course information and learning activities.

Assessments conducted during a face-to-face training session(s) include Performance tasks and practical scenarios –
Simulated First Aid Scenario – Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario.
Perform CPR on a child.
Perform CPR on an infant.
Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis.
Manage a casualty with asthma.
Manage a choking casualty.
Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning.
Manage a casualty with a nosebleed.
Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation.
Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain.
Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite).
